Are you having trouble finding your Etsy digital download? You’re not alone — and it’s so frustrating.
You just made a purchase (yay! 🎉), you’re excited to use your new digital file… and then it’s nowhere to be found. Ugh. 😩 We get it — it’s super annoying when you buy something and can’t access it right away.
The problem? Etsy doesn’t allow downloads through its app. But they love to force you to use their app! Grrrrr.
But don’t worry! 💛 The good news is: you can download your files anytime by using a web browser like Safari, Chrome, or Firefox — whether you’re on your phone, tablet, or computer.
….But you may need to delete the Etsy App to do so.
💻 Real talk? It’s just way easier to download from a computer.
If you have access to a laptop or desktop, that’s definitely the smoothest and least stressful way to get your files — no app issues, no weird mobile menus, just click and go. 🙌
📱 But if you’re on your phone or tablet — no worries! It’s possible, but Etsy doesn’t make it easy for ya!
How to Download Your Digital Files from Etsy From a Phone or Tablet
IMPORTANT: Digital files cannot be downloaded through the Etsy app.
To access your purchase, you’ll need to use a web browser like Chrome, Safari, or Firefox — on your phone, tablet, or computer.
✅ Step 1: Open a Web Browser
Open a browser on your device (like Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge) and go to:
👉 www.etsy.com
Tip: If you’re on a phone, make sure you’re not opening the Etsy app by default. Use your phone’s actual web browser.
✅ Step 2: Log In to Your Etsy Account
Click or tap Sign In and enter the email and password you used to make your purchase.
✅ Step 3: Go to “Purchases and Reviews”
Once logged in, click or tap on your profile icon (usually a little circle or silhouette in the top-right corner).
Then, from the dropdown menu, select:
👉 Purchases and Reviews
This is where Etsy stores all your past orders, including digital items.
Here’s where things can go wrong!
✅ Step 4: Find Your Order
Scroll through your Purchases and Reviews list and locate the item you bought. You’ll see the shop name, order number, and a small preview of your product.
💡 Pro Tip: If you ordered multiple items, you might need to scroll a bit to find the right one.
🛑 Seeing a message that says:
“Check your email for a download link or use your desktop or mobile browser to download directly”?
That means your phone has automatically opened the Etsy app — and unfortunately, you can’t download files from the app. But don’t worry! You’ve got options:
📲 Option 1: Log Out of the Etsy App
Sometimes just logging out will stop your phone from defaulting to the app. Here’s how:
- Open the Etsy app
- Tap “You” (bottom right)
- Go to Settings
- Tap Sign Out
Now, open your browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.) and go to www.etsy.com, log in, and try again.
*Personally this one never worked for me, I always had to use option 2 (delete the app)
🧼 Option 2: Delete the Etsy App Temporarily
If logging out doesn’t work, you can temporarily delete the Etsy app to force your phone uses the browser instead.
Once deleted, go back to your browser and head to:
👉 Etsy.com > You > Purchases and Reviews
Find your order and continue to Step 5 below to download your files.
NOTE: Once you’ve successfully downloaded your files, feel free to reinstall the Etsy app and sign back in as usual.
I understand it’s an extra step (and yes, a bit of a hassle!), but please know this limitation is set by Etsy and is outside of the seller’s control.
✅ Step 5: Click the “Download Files” Button
Once you find your item, click the “Download Files” button on the right-hand side of the order or below.
Your files will immediately begin downloading, or you’ll be directed to a page where you can download each one individually.
🎉 That’s it — your file is now ready to use!
How to Download Your Digital Files from Etsy From a Computer
✅ Step 1: Open a Web Browser
Open a browser on your device (like Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge) and go to:
👉 www.etsy.com
✅ Step 2: Log In to Your Etsy Account
Click or tap Sign In (usually found at the top right corner) and enter the email and password you used to make your purchase.
If you’re already logged in, great! You can skip this step.
✅ Step 3: Go to “Purchases and Reviews”
Once logged in, click or tap on your profile icon (usually a little circle or silhouette in the top-right corner).
Then, from the dropdown menu, select:
👉 Purchases and Reviews
This is where Etsy stores all your past orders, including digital items.

Scroll down your order list and find the item you purchased.
You’ll see the shop name, order number, and product preview there.

Once you find your item, click the “Download Files” button on the right-hand side of the order.
Your files will immediately begin downloading, or you’ll be directed to a page where you can download each one individually.
🛑 Still can’t find your Etsy Digital Download?
It might say “Not Yet Available” if:
- Your payment is still processing
- You checked out as a guest (in this case, Etsy sends you a separate email with a download link)
- You’re using the Etsy app instead of a browser (yep, that’ll block the download every time 😬)
